SOMERLEY HOUSE
Somerley House is a privately owned stately home set on the western bank of the River Avon, nestled between the New Forest and the Dorset border. The estate has been in the ownership of the Earls of Normanton since 1828 and remains a private family residence today.
Getting there
From the A31 just past Ringwood, take the B3081 towards Verwood and Alderholt.
After approximately half a mile, you will drive past Ashley Lodge on your right (a white, thatched cottage). Continue straight ahead and, after around 500 metres, turn right towards Alderholt.
Continue for approximately two miles. You will pass Blue Haze Cattery on your left after around one mile. Turn right into the Somerley Estate just before Nea Lodge. There will be signs by the gates for Somerley Park Golf Club and Somerley Estate.
The black electric gates will open automatically on approach.
Follow the tarmac road through the golf course and continue straight ahead, following signs for Somerley House – Strictly Private. This road will take you directly to the front of the house.
